Who we are
Simply put, we are a family and not a franchise. The Church is the family of God - full of brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers, aunts and uncles, cousins and grandparents. We're not perfect or polished either. Many of us are banged up and bruised, wounded and wandering, disillusioned and in discomfort. But we choose to not stay there and are pursuing life in Jesus and life with one another.
Where we come from
Gathering Midtown started with six friends and six hundred bucks in San Pedro Park on June 3rd, 2012. Our humble beginnings involved friends, food, and simple prayer that said, "God, show us where You're at work. We'd like to join You in what You're doing. Amen."
For the first year, we were homeless as a church. We didn't have a building or budget, and would often meet in homes, parks, and restaurants. Some called us a flash mob church. Those were the days! Eventually, God miraculously opened the doors at a rundown warehouse and the church began to grow and expand slowly and steadily.
Where we're going
Our mission is to love the wounded and wandering, leading them to joyful discipleship in Jesus. We're establishing a long term sustainable presence of the Kingdom of Heaven in downtown San Antonio. We see the center of our city as our neighborhood, stomping grounds, playground, and mission field.
What this means for you
